designed by paragon_studios_one © 2010 Photo taken in daylight by Christine Johnson. Alexandrite is one of a few color change stones, greenish in daylight to reddish in incandescent light. Discovered in the early 1800 in Russia it's a variety Chrysoberyl. A 1/2 carat to 2 cts. stone can cost $1,750-16,000 per carat, a fine 3 ct. stone in todays market can cost $45,000 retail. Genuine alexandrite in larger sizes 2ct + are very scarce. It's truly one of my favorite gemstones. Any thing sewn from this design would be exquisite and have the look of royalty!
