Now that you are reinstated, I emailed Spoonflower and WAS able to add my vote! I encourage anyone else who missed out on this beautiful design to do the same! Good luck Patty!
"i like it! idc what anyone says!" - hahaha!
Yay!!! You're back in! Let the voting continue; great job and good luck!
Looks like you're reinstated because I just voted for your design.
It is beautiful. Good luck!
Lavender Roses my very favorite, Beautiful design love the butterflies and bees It's a winner in my eyes!
Yay! Let us all know what happens! And I also wondered - has anyone ever voted for an entry and KNOWN FOR SURE that they did and then not had it show up in the list of entries they voted for? I have one definitely missing...
Good for you, victoria! The rules are the rules. Following them was the whole point, yes?!! I have my fingers crossed for you, Patty!
I just sent SF a message stating that I thought this design should be reinstated and people given a chance to vote for it. I mentioned the illusion of green, from your lovely trick with the yellow dots, and the illusion of two blues, caused by the use of the yellow dots and the use of the white dots. I also mentioned the anti aliasing; but pointed out that almost all, if not all, of the designs have that (so I don't think it's a few stray pixels in your design that got you bumped, some of the designs had a lot more than yours). I also inquired why that one design (it will remain nameless, you know which one, if you've looked at the contest) is still in the contest, when your design was removed. The design that will be nameless clearly used transparencies, which was against the rules. (I'm going to get a bad reputation; I'm sure.)
Thanks again for all the support, it's nice to hear you would've voted for it! I'm still kind of scratching my head. I don't think it was the "green" illusion that got me disqualified. I've just gone over my design and all the colors are within palette. The only thing I can think of is that my black outline is handdrawn, so there are a couple messy black pixels on the fringe of it that might have mixed with the color below it. But, then again I saw an entry that had gradients, so I'm not sure why mine was pulled. I guess vector art with absolutely clean edges is the safest way to go for a restricted palette contest. I'd better bone up on my clipping path skills!
I'm so sorry that this was pulled! I think that is awful! Especially when you clearly tried so hard to stay within the color restrictions by creating the "faux" green. This is beautiful and it would definitely have had my vote too!
I think they glanced at your design, saw green, and didn't look at it closely. I think you should ask if they actually lifted the color out to check it. Hmm..Looking at it again: there is an optical illusion; the two leaves look as though they are different blues, even though they're not. It's just the difference between being next to the yellow or next to the white. If it's just the anti-aliasing then probably every design in the contest should be out.
I just went through the contest pages three times looking for this one to vote for! It is my favourite even if it isn't in the comp. I had a design for this one entered and got an email back saying one of the colours was out of range, not sure what had happened but when I checked they spoonflower were correct and I had time to correct mine.
Thanks for your lovely comments uzumakijo,... and weaving major, that's really a sweet gesture, but I hope they don't pull your votes!!!
In my very small lunch window here at work to do anything personal, I was barely able to contact SF and get a response before it was back to the grind. Apparently, one of my colors was outside the restricted palette, I'm not sure which one. I will do some checking when I get home but it's really a moot point at this juncture. I'm just happy to have received such glowing comments from all of you!
I voted right away - and didn't see that this wasn't there - oh no! I emailed them and asked them to add you in and add a vote from me. and pull mine from the contest if they weren't able to - no fun competing when some of the very best ones aren't in it to compete against!! <p>
p.s. the insects - you did them perfectly. you don't notice them right away, but then discover them one by one as you admire the polka-dot leaves and the shading on the roses! wonderful.
patty this is amazing - i can't believe i missed it so far! hope you can sort it out! i'm gonna wait to vote cos i want to vote for this one!! gorgeous and so intricate....beautiful work!!
Yeah, Patty - what happened?! It wasn't there!
y'know, I sure thought I did! That's a surprise to me!
Did u enter this in the summer flower contest? I don't recall seeing it.
beautiful! I'm tempted to say it has almost a gothic feel to it. Great job!
Ha ha inscribed_here, good thing I didn't make those polka dots black! And thank you sammyk and victoria for your lovely comments, I'm glad to hear you had to dig to find the little creatures, in my lack of perspective from having worked on this so long, I was starting to think they might be too obvious and distract from the overall floral-ness of the design.
This design is just such a fantasy piece, I keep coming back to it. I, too noticed, and admired, all the little creatures; not sure I've found them all yet. I'm sure the dots will show up wonderfully in the fabric. On my screen the swatch is about 4 inches, which is half the size it will be printed, and they show up pretty well at that scale; so I'm sure it's going to be amazing at full size.
There are so many wonderful details to see here. I'm in love with you're glorious hand-drawn roses - and for once spots on the rose leaves doesn't mean something bad!
It's gloriously layered; I gleefully gasped at all the surprise insects to be found when you zoom in. I love those polka dots!
Thanks you guys! The leaves do appear green in the small preview of a fat quarter (and definitely in the yard view), but I uploaded my design pretty large hoping the polka dots and separate colors will be very noticeable on the actual fabric, more like how it looks on the "swatch" preview or the zoom. It will be interesting to see how it prints.
beautifull very well done
This is stunning
I loooooove this!!!!!!
This is wonderful; very inventive way to get the illusion of green.
Well, obsessions definitely make for better artwork - the more you churn out, the better you get! I need a little more obsession, I think. My most recent stuff has been a little half-assed... but in my defense, we are moving across country (south) in 3 weeks... I'm a little preoccupied!
Beautifully done!!!! I'm fine with your husband using 'obsessed' (cuz I am too!!). Great job!
Thanks everyone, you really know how to make a girl feel good! As for being prolific, Lulakiti, my husband tends to use the word obsessed... :P
totally classy ~ great job! xxx
oh my goodness! this is wonderful and gorgeous!
Stunningly gorgeous roses! The polka dots and bugs are a cute addition. Great work!
WOW! You are so amazingly talented (and prolific!). I can not even believe what you were able to achieve with this color palette! Gorgeous!
