steps. Original design by Eleanor Ramsay
This can be pinned and glued to an existing hood or sewn together as an independent piece. Cut out the two sides and the beak piece. Leave a margin of black to hem or glue under. Determine your best size by laying over an existing hood. Mark the back of the material and pin the two sides together across the top and back. Leave the front open. Try it on. It should hang over your eyes a bit. Either glue or stitch the two sides to your black hood, or stitch the two sides together. Hem the excess material under for a more finished look. The beak will look best if it has cardboard or stiff material attached to it. Fold the excess black material around that and glue. Stitch or glue the beak to the front of the hood and drape the rest across the top seam. Stitch, pin or glue it to the two side pieces. Optional: Cut a strip of black material to create ties at the neckline. Embellish with beads and embroidery thread to add sparkle and texture. Line hood with black material for a finished look.
