cut'n'sew panels are only available as fat quarters
YOU WILL NEED: * Pair of scissors * Iron-on Interfacing * Sewing machine * Hand sewing needle * Metal zipper - 15cm: black * Red & black thread ............................................................................................................................. VERY BASIC CONSTRUCTION GUIDE ............................................................................................................................. 1/ Iron interfacing to the back of the Cat’n’Sew panel then cut out all the pieces of the pattern. - The seam allowance is approximately 5mm & has been allowed for with the thick black outline and dotted lines. TIP WHEN SEWING PIECES TOGETHER, MAKE SURE TO LEAVE SOME OF THE BLACK OUTLINE SHOWING FOR WHEN IT’S TURNED RIGHT SIDE OUT. 2/ Gather stitch the bottom 3rd of the FRONT piece (as indicated) but leave the end thread unsecured so the gathers can be pulled tighter or loosened if need be. Now attach the zipper to the FACE and FRONT pieces along the dotted red line to create a unified FRONT piece, connected by the zipper. 3/ Gather stitch the bottom 3rd of the FRONT LINING piece (as indicated) but leave the end thread unsecured so the gathers can be pulled tighter or loosened if need be.Right sides together, sew FACE and FRONT LINING pieces to the BACK LINING piece, leaving the mouth section open ready to attach to the Zipper later. 4/ Fold the STRAP piece in half (right sides facing) & sew along the long edge, making a tube. Turn right sides out & press flat so the seam runs down the middle. Top stitch, 5mm in, down both long edges to keep flat & strengthen. Make the tag in a similar way. 5/ Now, right sides facing, sew together the unified FRONT & BACK pieces with the STRAP & TAG positioned between them as shown in the diagram: Adjust the gather stitches on the FRONT piece so as to make the FRONT piece fit nicely to the same size as the BACK piece - the BACK & BACK LINING pieces are not gathered, so are slightly shorter in length. 6/ Open the zipper mouth and turn your Hand Bag right sides out & top stitch along the line that divides the head from the ears so the ears are no longer accessable from the inside. 7/ Now post the sewn up, inside out lining in through the open zip mouth and flatten out inside the BODY. Neatly fold under and sew the LINING mouth opening to the inner sides of the Zipper. 8/ Attach the Mouse to the Zipper pull with a cord or small chain. These are very basic instructions please feel free to assemble in your own way, there are many zipper pouch/bag tutorials online for reference. Enjoy! Lots of love from Wood Mouse & Bobbit X.
