These designs are derived from vintage carved wooden fabric stamps from Japan, (probably carved in India). The stamps have white fabric ink on them.
Because they are derived from hand-carved stamps, they have an organic, asymmetric, hand-made look.
Other colors in this collection include a dark bluegreen textured background, and an indigo texture with white, creating a classic blue and white Japanese fabric. Try them on the linen-cotton fabric for a yukata or an oriental-style jacket, or for curtains or cushions.
There are several different layouts. These dark background versions with white designs also have a batik effect. Reverse colors are available.
This version has a close, overlapping array of the white trees. White on textured blue-green.
This sideways, smaller version is especially for linen teatowels and cafe curtains.
