I have always loved the contrast in color expectations that you get when you slice blood oranges so this was the citrus variety that cried out to me for a design. Entry in the Citrus fruits contest and THANKS to everyone who voted for it (placed 43rd out of 403 entries, with 203 validated votes).

I really love this one, Su! The textural and value contrast, with all those beautiful shades of red, is a great combo.

Amazing design Su!
Thanks so much for your lovely comments Sheila, Robin, Regina and Sarah, very much appreciated! Sheila I know nothing about printing on glass but your idea has so stuck in my head I'm now going to have to find out about it...
Very cool, Su! Love it!
This is really beautiful!
Su, this is amazing work! I agree, this would look great on glass, perhaps as a room divider. What you have achieved here is just stunning!
Thanks for the lovely comments Sue Ellen and Lori - very much appreciated!
Oooooooo.........the swatch view!
I like the transparency as well as the lovely color, and the very interesting pattern formed by the chains of orange slices in the yardage view.
Thanks for the great comments everyone - much appreciated! You are making me appreciate all over again the great qualities of oil paints!
Striking design, I like how the layers of solid dark reds contrasting with the transparent slices and overlapping give it depth :)
Love the rich colors, the transparency
Su this is so lovely! I really love the details in the swatch view!
Thank you all sooo much for your lovely comments, feedback and great ideas on potential uses for this design - so very much appreciated!
ooooooh! just what everyone else said but I'm saying it too - love the colors and translucency!
Beautiful design Su, love the colours, layering, translucency, it all flows so well. I have always wanted to paint in oils, I am very impressed with your work! :)
Wow! Stunning! Really liking the color and translucency. Again i'd be really curious to see how this would look in a sheer fabric OR printed on glass. It looks as though it were photographed on a light table. Beautiful.
This is wonderful!
Wow, this is so pretty and I love the name -- who knew citrus fruits could be so dramatic! This design is wonderful.
I love the way the design flows through the repeats- must have taken a while to do this in oils- beautiful.
Great work, I never got on with oil paints to be honest and am always mightly impressed by those who do. fab colours and great repeat!
Great colors and layering and impressive detail for an oil painting!
These translucent slices of ruby-coloured, juice-filled, citrus fruit, make a striking design, Su!
Su, this is totally gorgeous!
Wow, these look stunning!
Beautiful Su. I can imagine a column of these wonderful oranges cascading down a billowing silk maxi dress!
Beautiful "lacework"! The blood orange texture is sooo sophisticated.
