I live part time on the Atlantic Coast, and am always humbled by the effort made by huge Sea Turtles to come out of the water, haul their considerable weight far up on the beach to a place among the dunes where they feel it is safe to dig a hole and lay their eggs. It is simply an enormous effort.
When the babies hatch, they flitter across that endless stretch of dry sand, trying so hard to make it to the water...you can almost hear them say "Ahhhh", when they reach the surf! This pattern is dedicated to the Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle, which is critically endangered.
