Pliosaurs are extinct marine reptiles, living in the oceans during the Jurassic and Cretaceous.
The huge skull of the Weymouth Bay Pliosaur was unearthed from the Kimmeridge clay in 2003 and later bought by the Dorset County museum. It is thought to have been 12m in length, posessing the most powerful bite of any animal. A digital model of the skull has been reconstructed at the University of Southampton, using CT scan data.
Here is a smaller and more cuddly version of the Pliosaur in the form of a sew-your-own plushie!
