How to catch fireflies: you need a fine cane basket and lots of luck, even then they'll escape!
I recently read that if you go out with a small flash light, wait until you see a firefly flash - count one Mississippi two Mississippi - hold your flash light close to the ground, turn it on for one second. Almost immediately the firefly will turn and approach you. Continue with the flashing, and soon the firefly will land on your hand!

Thank you for the gorgeous comments Amy!
The cane was done using fairly simple geometry ... once I'd figured out how to do it... it builds up from a very small block which looks deceptively simple. you can see the block in cropped image of one of individual canes. It's getting your head around the over and under's that does the trick!
As for the palette I hold my hands up and admit that I did not choose them - they are one of the Synergy group challenges - see the links...

This collection is gorgeous!!! I cannot even imagine how you created this design...so intricate detailed. The colors are really lovely!
Also in the Firefly stable... Wee baskets of fireflies... my competition entry!
moirarae uploaded a fabric image for
catching fireflies - on the border :
Ana coordinating cane in lime yellow!
Contrast - blue cane on white!
A matching cane pattern on blue!
Scan of the border print - looking a bit dull - much brighter in reality!
Along with the repeat - fly away fireflies!
Hi Su, Thank you.
I do like a snappy title... they don't always come that easily though!

Very nice collection! Great titles too!
Thank you all for the lovely comments...
Pamela: Yes, more medallions with that firefly glow... they were my starting point, I just need to get an interesting repeat out of them!
Marian: Wow! Thank you!
Lisa: Love the idea of a long skirt maybe a wrap over... how about a sarong?!
Sweet! This would be so wonderful as a skirt - maybe even a maxi - skirt to take full advantage of the border pattern! Love it. It really glows!!!!!!
ooh, this is excellent!
I like this one a lot! Especially like the pulsing glow in the medallions. Would like to see one based on the medallions themselves so we have a few more that evoke the insects themselves in addition to all the coordinates.
Feeling pretty pleased with this and all the spin offs - well worth the effort!
