The Ceryneian hind (also called Cerynitis) was a large deer sacred to the Greek goddess Artemis. Despite being a doe, the hind had large golden antlers and her hooves were made of bronze. She was also fast enough to outrun arrows.
Catching this deer was one of the labors of Heracles (more popularly known as Hercules). He tracked her for a year before finally catching her. She was released after he brought her to Eurystheus to avoid angering Artemis.
