Description:

Design by Rhonda W. © 2013. Wreaths of sweet eglantine decorate a selection of rich chocolate eggs. This is my "Painted Eggs" contest entry. * Just click above, on rhondadesigns, to browse my "shop" pages.

Sweet Eglantine, also known as the Briar Rose, blooms profusely once the year turns and Spring ushers in the warmer days. It seemed appropriate to paint these chocolate Easter eggs with dainty blossoms of sugar frosting. This is an original hand drawn design by Rhonda W. © 2013

anniedeb

anniedeb says: Wonderful design, Rhonda, and I enjoyed reading your description. I came across the name "Eglantine" when doing genealogy. Also, and this goes along with the egg topic: there was a hen who lived on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Her name was Eglantine and she was the champion layer of the Eastern Shore. Newspaper articles were written about her! So one word: "Eglantine" and it brought a host of memories for me. Great design.

Eglantine is a beautiful flower, and the word has fascinated me since I first read it in a Shakespearian poem (a long time ago, last millenium!). My Mom I think talked the candy maker out of his recipe....she made them later in my life at home. Can't quite get it right myself now days!!

victorialasher says: Yummy! This reminds me of the large chocolate covered cream eggs, with beautiful decorations in sugar icing, that my sister and I would get for Easter every year. We were allowed to have a slice for dessert each night, and they would last a week or more.
