A complete alphabet lovingly collected from a very special churchyard in the wet and wild Pacific Northwest.
With only a little photo correction I collected an entire alphabet and a few embellishments from the Old Scotch Church cemetery near Hillsboro, Oregon. The cemetery boasts the resting places of some of the Pacific Northwest's earliest founding families. Each 'block letter' is one inch square, the full alphabet repeat is six by six inches.

Really beautiful color - love the story behind it

Thank you so much! I so agree that letters are rich with art, symbolism and in this case, love.

Lovely textures and colors in this design and one really views a letter as art rather than as part of a word. Rich!
Brilliant! Great idea, loving all that te fire and colour too!

Thank you for your thoughtful words. I enjoyed the process of creating this alphabet so very much. Not to mention the day spent taking the pictures with my son. We were visiting the grave of a locally famous pioneer with family connections, everybody's 'cousin' Joseph Meek. The 'E' and the 'K' are his. So there is some of the story this sampler tells.

This intriguing alphabet is filled with thought-provoking, fascinating elements from your source material. There are so many interesting, heart-warming, tragic and inspirational stories that these letters could tell of the trials, tribulations and triumphs of the pioneers who lie in this old cemetery!
Thank you amy_g & audsbodkin ~ I had a lot of fun pulling this together.
This design is fascinating to study -- each letter seems to have a story to tell!
This is an absolutely beautiful design and I like your description....gives the design even more meaning! :o)
