Love tho' constant, waxes and wanes, except for ice-cream. A love letter in hearts on ice-cream. See below for textural detail. © Su Schaefer 2013
'Love waxes and wanes but is constant' was the design idea for this love letter in hearts on ice-cream (see swatch view, detail above or here, for the texture; the background as a separate design is here). © Su Schaefer 2013

I was sure the phrase was from a Shakespearean sonnet. The phrase is not, but the sentiment is in Sonnet 16:
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering barque,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
Oil on canvas, designed as a basic repeat.

Thanks so much for your great comment Boo - and yeah I'm not really a hearts type either - so this was definitely an exception! Hence the silly title I guess... And I love the way you continue the metaphor with your heart - or - double (ice-cream) cone!! <3 So funny!

...except for icecream! Love it! Super sweet design Su - I'm not usually a hearts kind of grrl, but this one really does it for me! <3 (which could be interpreted as a heart... or a double icecream!)
Thanks for having a look at the Collection Penny - and for your great feedback on it; I've been building this collection up slowly for while a while now and still have a few ideas for it, thanks again!
What a fantastic collection Su
Thanks so much Kris! I admit, I still get a shiver up my spine when I read the words of that sonnet too...

Thanks so much Amy and Deborah for your lovely comments - and Deborah I hope you got some ice-cream!
Wonderful design although I must confess I cannot get ice cream out of my mind.
this is just so beautiful!!!!
Thanks so much Isabella, so pleased that you like the textures!
Lovely, Su. The texture is gorgeous.
Thanks Melanie and Emma for your much appreciated feedback!
Beautiful textures, lovely design Su :)
Gorgeous textures and sugary sweet colour choices. Yum : )
Thank you all so much for the lovely lovely comments and great feedback - it is so VERY much appreciated!
This is gorgeous, Su!
Su this is wonderful. The detail in the close up is great. (I love that you included the poem) Your colors make me think of little, dainty cakes, meant to be eaten by ladies in lace and gloves.
Beautiful textures and design! Mmmm...ice cream :)
This is a delectable design, Su! The pretty hearts make me think of crisp toffee shapes adrift on a sea of luscious smooth and creamy icecream! I am sure that if Shakespeare had been living in an age when icecream was available to him, he would have written a wonderful sonnet or ode extolling it's virtues!
I just clicked on the swatch to see the texture...it is wonderful!
I love this design! It is so modern and fresh!
Thanks so much everyone for the lovely comments, I'm so glad the paint details come across - and are liked! Now I just have to wait for the proofs...
The painterly detail in the close up is really lovely! Nice to see painted work!!
Lovely and beautiful inspiration!
I like those thick impasto swirls .. lovely brushwork, and it shows up beautifully on the fabric! The many shades of rich cream have me almost tasting the ice cream.
Painterly and refreshing.
Edible art....now there's a way to keep artists from starving.
Yummy yummy yummy - brings to mind that song by Sarah McLauchlan titled "Ice Cream". "Your love is better than ice cream, better than anything else that I've tried". The textures are edible... :^ ) and make me hungry for some lovin. Playful and so sweet.
And thanks too Tina for loving the "painterly details" and all, great feedback, much appreciated
Thanks so much pinksodapop - REALLY appreciate it!

I love the painterly details! The irregularity of the hearts and the beautiful textures give it so much character! Beautiful!
