This is another in the series of designs I drew that pits the sensuousness of art nouveau tinged curves with the structure of straight angles to create a tension in the way those forces interplay. Add a little Celtic knot under and over weaving, and you get the basic elements of this diagonally oriented patchwork patch.
There are two alternating blocks in here, a red and lime floral one that contains an internal border and lots of gracefully swishing horizontal lines that cross it. There are purple eyed spades meeting tip to tip at each corner of those patches, creating a plus sign cross as an intersection. And there are two other sensuous spades in the blue patch. You can find them (each actually appears four times in the block because of the mirror repeat) if you look carefully into the camouflage of all the pastel colors and lines. A very feminine and flowing design that seems very floral, though nothing that passes for flowers in this design ever really grew on planet Earth.
This looks darker in print than it does on my monitor. (file k21L2)
