Wow! Thank you Bruce & Krystyna.
This is such a super border print
Thank you Lana - this was designed for an SF fixed palette contest - so I must admit I did not choose the colours, just how to use them.

Indeed, Henry would have loved it. So pretty. Enjoyed reading your notes too.

This is so beautiful and almost hypnotic!

Thank you for the lovely comment Amy! it's made my Afternoon!
Traditional art always amazes me, certain motifs turn up all over the place. This spiral motif became even more appealing when I found out that it is known in Laos as 'Grouped snails' - I couldn't resist doing something with it!
I agree - a Sarong made with the cotton voile for the summer - very chic!

Interesting that your inspiration was a bath robe - I was thinking what a beautiful long skirt or sarong it would make! I love the way your spiral-based motif manages to look Celtic, Asian, and Middle Eastern all at once.
These patterns make a beautiful border design. I think this will look lovely printed!
Matisse was great at taking traditional images and evolving them into something new/modern. In this design I aimed for something more traditional in appearance, with one or two intriguing and unexpected elements, that would have inspired and interested him. In short I wanted to design something he would have loved - something he would want to make reference to in his work.
This looks nice.. but I feel like it is to neat, to.. perfect? to fit with matisse's work.
but that's just my oppinion.
still, nice work :)
You have taken such an intriguing diversity of motifs from such a broad spectrum of different cultural sources and bound them together into one beautiful design! Those swirling coils have cast a spellbinding net over the pattern, Moira!
Wow, thank you!
I've just added scatter cushions to go with!
Oh, super well done. This looks totally fabulous!
When you put it like that it makes it all worth while!
Well, if Henri doesn't want it, he can send it to me, because I love it! You've outdone yourself, Moira! The delicacy of the linework, the color balance, with the blue holding the bass notes, and the froth of white, sparkled by the coral and rose and green, is breath-taking ... a-a-ahhhhh ... I can hear it sing.
