Birds made up of quotes of famous British authors writing about flight for the Flights of Fancy contest. This is a larger scale pattern so that the quotes can be easily read. In a tile size of 13" x 13", the quotes are legible.
Here are the quotes:
When all persons of any gentility will keep at least a pair of wings, and be seen skimming about in every direction; I shall take a flight to Paris (as I soar round the world) in a cheap and independent manner.
As in their flight the birds of song…
Steer forward on the wing:
Sun-servers they, from first to last,
Upon the sun they wait
To ride the sailing blast.
--Robert Louis Stevenson
'Tis dusk, it will be still…
Look at that soft and golden light,
High in the unclouded sky;
Watch the last bird’s belated flight,
As it flits silent by.
Ring'd with the azure world, he stands.
The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.
-- “The Eagle†By Alfred, Lord Tennyson
If I had but two little wings
And were a little feathery bird,
To you I'd fly, my dear!
--Samuel Taylor Coleridge
She spread her brown wings for flight,
and soared into the air.
She passed through the grove like a shadow,
and like a shadow she sailed across the garden.
An eagle flight, bold, and forth on,
Leaving no track behind.
To hear the Lark begin his flight,
And singing startle the dull night,
From his watch-towre in the skies,
Till the dappled dawn doth rise;
In the golden light'ning
Of the sunken sun,
O'er which clouds are bright'ning,
Thou dost float and run,
Like an unbodied joy whose race is just begun.
--“To a Skylark†by Percy Bysshe Shelley

Cheryl,your work is exceptional,both in design and spirit. I am awed. You just received my vote in the limited palette contest( a vote against my own design I might add, but fair is fair) for this amazing work that is truly poetry in motion. I only wish I had time to order your Thanksgiving tablecloth for this year. That's ok. It is worth waiting for. And best of fortune and many blessing in the contest,but more importantly on you and yours this holiday season and beyond. Kim@krussimages
