DIY oven mitt instructions (Note: two sets of oven mitts could be made by using a different inner lining fabric for each set): Cut out the 4 pcs. of the printed Michigan Mitt with pinking shears. Using the Michigan Mitt fabric pieces as a template, cut slightly larger pieces of both cotton + insulating batting. Layer materials in this order: front MM fabric + insulating batting + cotton batting + back MM fabric (or alternate fabric). Machine quilt each set, using a quilting stitch of your choice. Stack 2 quilted sets together: fabric fronts facing together with fabric backs facing out. Sew 1/4” seam all around leaving a 2” gap (un-sewn) at bottom edge of mitt. Trim seam and clip curves where necessary. Turn inside out through gap. Stitch gap closed by hand or machine. Optional: use the black and white "map border" piece of fabric as additional trim on the bottom edge of the mitt.
