Thank you! That is how you can tell I'm really a morel mushroom hunter. I've spent lots of time examining them. This is a great week for Morels in Wisconsin. After a dismal early season we found six pounds on Monday. Yumm!
Oh my God... when I first saw this (preview/thumbnail), I thought it is a photograph. This is so real.
Ha! Thanks :) And lots of librarians are on the crafty side, too. I have found a lot of overlap on a botanical art email list I belong to with librarians/botanical art/book arts, etc. Fun stuff!

Thanks again Carol. We share a love of the botanical, and I think librarians rule!
Fantastic design and pattern! I love it. I am new to Spoonflower and just discovered your profile. I'm having fun browsing around! You work is wonderful.
Great pattern and flawless repeat!
Beautiful -- you have far more patience than I do to do this in watercolor and get a seamless repeat!

Thank you so much for sharing this story weavingmajor. Your kind words mean a lot to me. One huge goal of mine is to support other folks claiming their art so your comments are a joy. Morels represent my dad too, and our endless hours of mushroom hunting (although he would never share where his best patches were, even with me.) The painting and the fabric remind me of the knowledge he gave me. I still hunt every spring in his honor. I should mention I've gone a little overboard. I have morel salt and pepper shakers and also went on Zazzle.com and designed shoes with morels on them too. You can check them out if you go there and search by 'morels' or 'hklebesadel.' I now have a pair of high top tennis shoes with morels on them!

can't believe I never commented on this! This is the fabric that first got me thinking about making - and buying - fabric. I thought that I should get a yard or two of this and make something for my dad, who is a mushroom expert and brought us morel hunting often when we were kids. Then I thought that perhaps if I designed some things myself, maybe I'd make enough commission to afford to buy your morels...
now, 50 swatches later, even at the bulk price, I'm still in the hole and it would have been better just to buy your fabric straight off - but I'm having so much fun! I'll have to get a job bagging groceries or something, I suspect, because I'd still like to get your fabric and my own someday!
And after designing my own I'm even more impressed with the even texture you've gotten here across the fabric, and the seamless repeats - and your watercolor rendition of the morels is both lovely and accurate!
I love this - and the title is great too :-)

Hummm, maybe I'll try that for a future design. Its a good idea.
Every time I see this, I think it's a crowded pen full of sheep!
Send me a picture! I have a tablecloth of it with Morel salt and pepper shakers. Its a hoot.
I may have to cover my couch in this.
Thanks so much! Its a morel hunter's dream come true.
This is gorgeous.
