This is a Red Work embroidery pattern sew using your favorite stitches. In support of challenging our minds this is my idea of what the 80s were all about. The 80s were big for Space Exploration. I was fortunate to meet several astronauts during my years living in Clear Lake Tx in 81-83. The Space shuttle program had its first successful launching with the Columbia in 81 and In 84 started the Teachers in Space Project. The first teachers mission was on January 28, 1986 with the Space Shuttle Challenger where many viewed the launch live because of the presence of the crew member Christa McAuliffe, she was the first member of the Teachers in Space Project. Mission STS-51-L was a mission with a Spartan 203 (Shuttle Pointed Autonomous Research Tool for Astronomy) or HCED a astronomical experiment to observe Halley's Comet. Christa was also scheduled to teach two lessons from space. Shortly after lift off 73 seconds into flight the Challenger broke apart leading to the deaths of its seven crew member team. The program continued till it was eliminated in 1990. In 2012 a new program opened will emphasize citizen science as well as citizen space flights called Citizens in Space.
