This design is a reproduction of the design that was used on the lining of the 6th Doctor's coat. If you want a "natural" fabric, I do strongly suggest to order this design printed on either Cotton Silk (since that is shiny and drapes well!) or on the Organic Cotton Sateen (which is a bit less shiny and really should just be a secondary choice!). If you can "live" with having a polyester lining, I would highly recommend the Silky Faille - the colors print absolutely brilliant on that fabric, it has a slight sheen (not shiny like satin; more subtle) and withstands machine washing extremely well. The original lining is an ombré-dyed moiré taffeta; probably woven with either two different fibers (like silk and rayon) and then dyed with fiber reactive dyes (one - black - for one of them; then the ombré look is just dyed to the other fiber) - or instead of using two different fibers in the weave, it could also have been woven with a 'black and white' moiré structure to begin with and *then* ombré dyed. A burn test of the fibers in the original lining fabric would give the ultimate answer which of those methods was used to create the original fabric; but then again, who has a piece of that fabric to unravel and burn the fibers? *lol* Of course printing will never be able to imitate a true moiré weave (since that would be somewhat "iridescent" along the moiré weave); but it will look acceptable as a reproduction if printed on the more shiny cotton silk. In case you would like to order this design at a different scale or in different colors, all it takes to make that happen at no additional costs is to send me a message :-) Please also have a look at my other 'blue box' themed designs in the collection which I set up for them (http://www.spoonflower.com/collections/25045)!
