This is an Elizabethan knit pattern; a very similar pattern can be found on one of the
knit jackets in the collection of the V&A, which is dated to c. 1625-1650, making this pattern very late Elizabethan to early Baroque.
In case you're not familiar with Spoonflower, note that the pattern you can see in the picture isn't actually "knit". It's just a print which looks as if it was knit.
A horizontal border is running through the design every 23.26 inches - perfect for borders on sleeve and jacket ends.
In case you need this on a stretch fabric (like a knit would be), I recommend ordering this in 'Organic cotton knit' (by selecting that fabric type from the dropdown menu).
In case you would like to have this faux knit print on a non-stretch fabric, I would recommend either the Cotton Poplin or the Organic cotton sateen; since colors print best on those fabric types. You could also chose the cotton silk, which has a shiny appearance like a satin weave).
As usual - in case you would like to order this design at a different scale or in different colors, please don't hesitate to send me a message!
