Ever since the southwest invasion of the United States by Spanish speaking immigrants caused poor apartment dwellers to speak Spanish more often than English, laudromats have gone bilingual. In some southwestern neighborhoods they aren't even bi-lingual. They just say "lavenderia" on their flourescently lit plexiglass signs. But what is inside are the same rows of coin operated washing machines and dryers, and screaming toddlers as the ones with the English language signs.
And ever since I have seen the word "lavenderia" I have wanted to see it coupled with lavender. So here is my chance. This is a cheerful and casual alternating diagonal patchwork checkerboard in lavender, that would make great curtains or wallpaper for the lavenderia.
