This is a reproduction of the fabric of the dress which Eleonora Di Toledo wore in the famous portrait. It's a marvelous example of Italian, Tudor / late Renaissance fabric design.
Please have a look at the 'Test Swatch' size (by clicking the radio button on the right) to see the details!
The actual fabric was 'voided' velvet, a fabric which has a satin background with velvet designs on it. Since that particular type of fabric is basically unobtainable nowadays - there's, to my knowledge, only one company in the world that still weaves this type of fabric, at a whooping cost of $500+ per yard - this "just" printed fabric may be a good alternative if you're "just" after the look and don't need the authentic material.
The fabric is printed at the approximate size of the original fabric and has a repeat of 24x36 inches on fabric and 24 x 35.98 inches on wallpaper.
This particular version is a 'mock velvet and golden design'; it imitates the velvet (with tiny 'hairs' in the print) as well as the golden parts of the fabric with rows of golden loops.
I also offer this design in different versions (one that also has silver in the mock design; and two others which are stylized versions of this mock design without the 'hairs' and the 'golden rows' - please visit
my 'Tudor / Elizabethan / Jacobean' fabrics collection to see all of them!
Like with almost all my other fabrics, I recommend ordering this design in either Organic Cotton Sateen (which, at 56 inches, is extremely wide - so you get more fabric if you order a yard!), Cotton Poplin or - if you desire a more shiny look - the Cotton Silk, since colors will print brightest on those fabric types.
In case you'd like to order this fabric in different colors or at a different scale, please don't hesitate to send me a message; I can quickly set different versions up for you.
I also have some products featuring this design at my
Zazzle Store!
