Description:

All instructions are printed on the fabric. The only requirements are the fabric, scissors, a needle, and some green thread.

Heartfelt thanks to RhondaDesigns for introducing me to Suffolk puffs, and for generously suggesting this for the Craft Party Project contest. All instructions are printed on the fabric. The only requirements are the fabric, scissors, a needle, and some green thread. Sewing machine, embroidery floss, beads for embellishment are all optional. __________ You cut out the pieces on the solid lines, and begin by making the Suffolk puffs/yo-yos of the circular pieces, finishing them so the florets are on the top. Then arrange them as you choose in the designated area on the headband/sash, and attach by applique around the outer edge, or by a stitch through the center of the rosette, finishing with a knot or a bead, if you like. Then stitch up the headband/sash, gather the ends, stitch up the ties, and stitch the ties over the gathered ends of the main piece. Et voila! A band of flowers for your hair, or for the waist of your favorite little girl's dress.

rhondadesigns says: Wow! Sue Ellen, your amazing, heartfelt testimonial is the biggest compliment that I have ever received. I appreciate it enormously. As you mentioned, you had already thanked me for my small contribution of pointing you in the direction of an application for YOUR lovely design, and I was more than happy with those kind words. Much of my creative work is in the way of teaching and sharing ideas with others in the Patchwork and Quilting classes that I teach. Seeing potential ways of developing students' creative projects comes quite naturally to me. Indeed, I often seem to start sentences with the words, "What if..." or "have you thought of...". THANK YOU Sue Ellen for making my day!

fireflower says: As I was updating the design description for the new design page, I realized I had privately, but not publicly, thanked RhondaDesigns for her inspiration and instruction for this design. I had not heard of Suffolk puffs, and had not done yo-yos, and it was Rhonda who pointed out the facility with which my Florabuttons fabric could be used for them. It was also she who suggested a posy of Florabuttons puffs for one's hair might be part of a Craft Party Project, a contest I'd pretty much planned on skipping. And it was she who, long-distance, generously instructed me on how to make and apply Suffolk puffs, and answered my technical questions. So, a gigantic, and enthusiastic, THANK YOU! to you, Rhonda.

fireflower says: Thanks, Jana! The colors printed well on the basic cotton. I'm thinking of making it for a young relative who is starting kindergarten, and happily fancies up her dress whenever she can.
