My grandmother was born in 1900 on a farm in Cowley County, Kansas. (She passed away in 1985.) This aviation design contains a memory of my grandmother's about the first time she ever saw an airplane. "I remember an airplane that landed in the meadow south of the house and that was quite a curiosity. I don’t remember whether he had airplane trouble or why he landed there. I just remember seeing him land and, of course, it wasn’t too long before he had a group of sightseers around him." The photograph is from her collection. My great grandfather is in the picture. Also a small insert of my grandmother as a young girl appears on the airplane. This time period was definitely a time of wonder as far as aviation was concerned. A video I created featuring this same photograph can be seen here: http://holtcarsongenealogy.blogspot.com/2010/10/did-you-ever-remember-seeing-airplane.html
