It's almost as though you were there, Su! The inspiration dress did indeed have a full skirt, gathered to a waistline that dipped to a slight v in front. it was sleeveless, and had a snug bodice with a bateau neckline in front, and a deep V neckline in back --- a Vogue pattern, if I remember correctly. And I did debate showing the design at 3 motifs/swatch for stage purposes, & switched back and forth several times, before deciding to show it at 4 ... toss of the coin, almost.

Yes! I think this works as a cocktail dress - one of the big skirt variety. That pink is striking enough to carry the pattern even at the scale - wish I could see it at three motifs to a swatch & then look at the yardage, could be even more effective (thinking of the stage use). I suspect this design could be 'useful' (for different applications) at a number of different sizes...
I love the lacy look and the dimension created by the shadow!
Thank you so much, Olena!
This is a great design :)
Very pretty - and true to the era! (As it must be since you're recreating your own cocktail dress! The best kind of research!) And I do LOVE that bright Pink!
Thank you, Rhonda!
The dimensional effect of the lacy overlay is fantastic, Sue Ellen! The white over the pink is very true to the mid century era.
You and me, both, Isabella :-)
Very pretty, with a fab 3D effect! I'm so glad to be able to see it now :-)
Hallelujah! The upload/image display problem has been solved!
Sorry, everyone, but the image for this design disappeared shortly after I uploaded it last night, everywhere on SF, including my design library. Also disappeared was the next thing I uploaded, which was a revision of a prior design which had been perfectly visible until the new upload. So I quit, and sent SF a message, and went to bed. No point in uploading, if everything is going to disappear.
i cant see the image..how can i see them?
I am entering this in the 50's cocktail dress contest, because I had a cocktail dress in Dior Pink overlaid with lacy white eyelet back then.
