This is a design I did for one of my Uni briefs, the starting point which was to do a contemporary textile design taking inspiration from Gothic architecture. My final piece was to make a pointed arch frame with bird designs in, the birds were ones that featured in Christian and religious art of the time. - Birds featured: Swans symbolize purity, Robin symbolizes deliverance from evil, the Owl symbolizes wisdom, insight and virtue, and the Eagle symbolizes Christ, resurrection and rebirth, and stands for the virtues of courage, faith, vigilance and contemplation.
