The long-tailed hopping mouse was last seen alive in 1901. It differed from still-living hopping mice in that it had a very long tail (obviously, I guess!). It may still exist, but until a live specimen is found, it will continue to be classified as extinct. I'd like to think that somewhere in the outback there's a family of them happily hopping around doing what rodents do.

This charming design is beautifully drawn and arranged. Very well done!

Beautiful! I feel you have really captured that hopping quality in this lively design, and I especially like the sparseness of it - very effective.
So sweet. This reminds me of the pet gerbils I had many years ago.
Just wonderful.....I hope you're right, that maybe there is a little one out there somewhere!
Aw, thanks for the nice comments, guys! Rodents have a special place in my heart. :)
this is my most favorite fabric in the extinct animals contest. love it! really nice job, Janel!
Aw, so cute & such a great pattern arrangement! Nice work!
Those tiny mice are so cute!
So sweet! Yes, let's keep hope alive...
Janel, I'm so happy to see the long tailed hopping mouse represented among the extinct animals this week! I almost did one but was seduced by the thylacine's stripes... your design is lovely and shows what adorable little critters they were!
