My design is a tribute to the Laughing Owl believed to be extinct from about the 1900's. The Laughing Owl was an endemic owl found in New Zealand and was plentiful when European settlers arrived in 1840. Specimens were sent to the British Museum, where a scientific description was published in 1845. My little owls have a secret, if you look closely at the plumes on their tummies they are laughing, ho ho ho, he he he, ha ha ha..... © Dawn Clarkson
