This is one of my earliest designs, taken from a "paisley" I drew at work. It was one of those jobs where you sat and waited to be needed, and you usually weren't. But you were being paid to be there. So I drew and drew and drew on that job. After Spoonflower was born, I started scanning some of those drawings and found that they made nice fabric. An addiction was born. This design, in different colors, was entered in a contest (fishing) and turned out to be liked. So, as an experiment, with the new ink colors, and the color chart, I began to see how it looks in other shades. I don't think koi fish come in purple in real life, but that's okay. It's an abstract. There is the feeling of fish and water in it, not any representations of one.
