Crinoids are "living fossils" and what we know as sea lillies and feather stars today. While there are a few hundred types of crinoids still found in the ocean, few have the stalks characteristic of the much more abundant and diverse varieties found in the fossil record that have long since gone extinct. They are echinoderms, relatives of the starfish and sea urchin.

This is very beautiful, Pamela. It's appeal goes way beyond the theme. Fantastic!
Thank you, Veronica. Nice to know I'm not the only one puzzled by the lack of a delete key on my pencils.
I know what you mean, I'm so used to screen work now that on the rare occasion I'm drawing on paper I freak out about not having a command Z function - erasers are just not the same!
Gorgeous competition entry - a real standout!
Thanks, Kelly. These were culled from hand-drawn ink sketches that I digitally colored and arranged on an original scroll textured background. Just now "getting into" my non-PC media - a couple of contests AFTER the ones I really needed to use them for. Just no longer confident in the use of pens or even pencils. Over 20 years on screens has made me question whether or not I can draw the lines I "see" in my mind. My worse thing is layering. I tend to draw on a PC and then change the layering of portions of objects after the fact. Kind of hard to do that in real ink.
cool, they look embroidered!
