just got my swatches back - so fun to see my own handwriting and sketches printed so faithfully onto fabric!

thank you, Mina and Jeannie! ooh, a sun-dress would be fun!
this is really lovely!
Yes, this is exquisite as a fabric design. (And what a great kind of journal to have done. I always try to keep track of what is blooming, but get behind. And photos are often wrong on the flower colors...)
A summer blouse or sun-dress to wear to the grower's market perhaps?
oh wow, thank you everybody!
Ha ha Linda (linsart), I wish I could give you half my words, then we would both have the right amount - I always write too MUCH! ;oD
Nice journal design, love the sketches and writing together :)
Nice journal sketches!
I like the text among the beautiful flowers. I do lots of sketch books myself but mine are usually just pictures as I never know what to write.
Your beautiful drawings of natural wonders make a lovely fabric design, Kelly!
So delicate and lovely, Kelly! It is completely fabulous that you keep a nature journal and it has made for a stunning fabric!
This is a terrific design.
thank you, Jo! Yes - I would really recommend keeping a sketch journal of any sort. It's made me a lot more confident in my drawing (and in doing what I feel like I need to do rather than following the internal art teacher's instructions!!) and propelled me outside instead of wasting my free time in front of the computer! In short - everything everyone always says is true ;o) I did start to try this design without the notes, but it got too cluttered looking - I like how the text acts as white space to give the flowers a little breathing room.
I really love your beautifully delicate flower drawings Kelly, it's such a fab thing to keep a flower journal, or any journal come to that, something I always mean to do but never actually get round to doing. I love how you've kept the notes in, it really adds interest and educational value to this pretty and inspiring design.
wow, thank you Roz, Kathy, Sue, Sharon and Melanie! Yup, the flowers are from my garden and the nearby woods and fields. <p>Kathy, thanks for your interest in what I wrote! ;o) you can read all the notes on the pages in my flickr set, scanned in from my journal: http://www.flickr.com/photos/weavingmajor/sets/72157629266078682/
Lovely design with beautiful drawings of flowers, are they from your garden?
Wow ~ how fantastic!!! Beautiful! xxx
This is really beautiful, a great repurposing. I can see this would make beautiful pieces for a quilt, interesting curtains, pockets, ... so many things.
This is really nice, and different. (I wish I could read your notes).
thanks so much Alex and Victoria! Yup, for the hand-drawn contest. I thought I didn't have time to enter - but then I remembered that I'd been keeping my journal this spring and I could repurpose that!
Hand drawn contest perhaps?
Great idea for your lovely sketches.
