I still haven't got round to tidying up the plain one though.

The dark basket weave makes a lovely backdrop to your knotted dragons.

Thanks. I'm a bit old school (pencil, pen and ink) rather than part of the electronic tablet generation.
Wow, what a beautiful drawing! Well done!
I tested this one at 2/3 size (225 dpi) and the cross-hatching fill was still clear. So it could be reduced just a little further without losing the white gaps but probably not as far as you'd want, Victoria. I've only got as far as scanning the pre-shaded version. Not cleaning it up properly for colour fills yet. There's never enough time to do everything!
I suddenly had a recollection that I'd kept a pre-shading version at the time I did this. So I went rummaging for it and found it - not bad record-keeping from 30 years ago (and only my normal levels of senility). So I've scanned that too now and may eventually get around to cleaning it up and tinting it.

I never know what size people want things, though. Whereas, you say this one should be smaller, someone else just had me enlarge another design to a huge size for a dress. I tend to be doing things at a middling sort of size for myself.
I might try that if I get around to doing a cleaner (and therefore properly reducible) version from the original pen and ink work. I've reduced it just a little bit for proofing so that I can fit a whole unit onto a swatch but that may already cause the black lines to run into each other.
Gorgeous! Would love to see this one colored!
I think I'd have to redraw it to make it a shrinkable dot design. The cross-hatching and stippling is far too close to work with the degree of spread of printed ink on fabric. All the small white-space gaps would essentially disappear.
wonderful detail. I wonder if it would lose too much detail if it were made small enough to use as a "dot" design, for a dress
Whereas I thought it might slide beneath most people's notice, being black and white rather than brightly coloured.
You caught my attention with every aspect of this design, Sef! Knotwork, dragons and literary references to one of my favourite books ...a triple whammy!
Thanks, though it's not strictly celtic.
Beautiful! Its nice to see someone else doing quality celtic design.
