No self respecting pop art collection would be complete without Paisley. Although associated with the psychedelic art movement Paisley has a much older history dating back to the early 1800's in Paisley, Scotland when the Jacard loom was first introduced into thier large textile industry there. In the 60's the patterns were presented on a much larger scale than had previously been popular. That's is making a long story short as the rich history of this town and it's textile fame has all sorts of political and historical connections. I once painted the entire bottom section of an old modified Dodge Dart for a friend in a paisley pattern and got a bit of public exposure on National Geographic from that car in Harrod Blanks Wild Wheels documentary that they had running on their television channel. My own art car was featured in this as well. I had done the photo shoots with Harrod years before but didn't know he had it running on the channel until people started saying, I saw you on National Geographic last night. It was a nice surprise.
