By Mina Wagner

All the designs I do somehow come out as fabric designs. They may start as photos, drawings, embroidery, dye-painted fabrics, batiks or virtual batiks, or even typography, but they all lead to fabrics. Often they are Art Nouveau or William Morris inspired

mina

mina says: Thanks Su, weavingmajor, clotilda_warhammer, puffin98, rhondadesigns. This is still one of my absolutely favorite designs. I'm glad to have an opportunity to show it to more people. I'm still photographing the light patterns through those windows. Each pane of glass has its own watery pattern. And yes, Clotilda, as soon as I saw how the repeat gave a self-bordering pattern, I thought of sarongs. Also, I think maybe curtains. This printed very close to the way it shows here — the background is greenish.

mina

mina says: Thanks all. The way I got the water pattern was from a photograph of a light pattern cast on a wall early in the morning through a pane of old "float glass" in my grandfather's house. Early morning because a narrow beam of light through the trees gives a more focussed pattern. Then, layer it in Photoshop and use a blending mode over a solid background.
