Before my dad passed, he wrote my sister and I notes filled with fatherly advice. One of the things he wrote about was reading books and having ideas.
"Don't place too high a value on things. It's the ideas that are important. You can't eat them, or live in them, or drive around in them, but a life replete with things and devoid of IDEAS is a worthless life. Where do you get ideas? Read books!!"
He was an English teacher, and so we grew up with a house with lots of bookcases filled to the brim with books upon books. :)
