Description:

Book spines

This is a large-scale repeat, 36 inches in each direction on the fabric, 24 inches each way on wallpaper, 30 inches each way on the 30"-decal, and 26 inches each way on gift wrap. Book spines & bookshelf edges arranged as Log Cabin quilt squares. "Bookcase cubes" act visually as sashing between the Log Cabins of book spines. As well as general fabric, this could be used as the top of a cheater quilt, but there are no added seam allowances here. (Book image below) See also the cut-and-sew version, Booklover's Log Cabin Table-topper or Lap-size Quilt-top at: http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/1100337

fireflower

fireflower says: Thanks for the kind words, Deborah! Now, while I have read (and very much enjoyed) all of Ellis Peters' Brother Cadfael mysteries, and the BBC productions, the inspiration for the two books in this block was the Sister Fedelma mystery series by Peter Tremayne. There were a couple of them on the bookshelf near my computer when I was creating this design, and, while the "titles" in my design are just plain made-up-by-me, the "author's name" is a combination of two words, one selected from each book, which I put together because it sounded good and fit on the spine.

anniedeb

anniedeb says: Beautiful design, Sue Ellen. The text on a couple of the book spines reminds me of the Brother Cadfael (Ellis Peters) mysteries. Brilliant colors. So pretty.

motifmaven

motifmaven says: Love this design fireflower. Actually I would frame the section above as wallpaper dry mounted on Grey TV storyboard board and a nice simple contemporary frame with non glare glass. So I'll keep it in mind.

fireflower

fireflower says: Heheheh, Moira :-) Yes, it's a real Log Cabin block, not a spiral. (Just think of all the recycling we could do if book jackets were cloth!)

su_g

su_g says: Great idea! The resolution is a killer tho' it is better at the swatch view where you can actually read the titles.

khoward...

khowardquilts says: One reason for low resolution to discourage people from stealing designs. Cute pattern idea.

fireflower says: This fabric is displaying at low resolution, so it appears quite blurry!!! I am working with Spoonflower to try to resolve this.
