YOU CAN GET AN IDEA OF WHAT YOU CAN DO ON MY
THIS MAKES AN EXCELLENT LAPTOP BAG AS WELL THE FINISHED WIDTH IS 17 INCHES
Cut out the four pieces of fabric. Cut four pieces of fusible interfacing the same size. Measure the bottom of the front and back of purse and cut a piece of red, black or white plain fabric, roses, musical notes etc., your desired width for the bottom and sides of the purse. I used 4 inches for my width. Cut fusible interfacing for bottom and side pieces as well. Do the same for the musical notes lining. With right sides together stitch front and back to bottom piece of fabric. Then stitch front and back to side pieces of fabric and stitch to bottom. Trim corners. Turn right side out. You should have a box, rectangular shaped purse. Then do the same for the lining. Sew the lining and purse, right sides together at top leaving a gap big enough to turn the purse so you can see the right side of the lining inside the box shape purse. Turn under and stitch close to upper edge of purse. You can purchase any handle and attach it to the purse or make your handle of choice out of fabric. You can use it as a tote or enclose the top with a zipper or button. If you use a zipper cut 2 pieces as you did for the bottom and sew in your zipper before you attach it ti the purse front and back. I used a tie for a closure and a removeable fabric rose clip/broach as well. You can also sew in some plastic canvas to reinforce bottom and sides of purse.
