Description:

This BIG BAG is awesome for a weekend somewhere, for he gym, or a quick getaway! My Bag Pattern contest entry, my personal preference is the cotton twill where you will get a stronger material, however, the kino cotton will be lovely and easy to use. The

#1: Cut all pieces on marked edges. It’s always best to iron the fabric beforehand. #2: Use the pieces for a pattern, and cut a second piece of each with coordinating fabric {zipper pieces optional} same size, repeat with the batting. #3: Iron on batting. OR replace batting with quilted fabric. When ironing the batting, we did not go all the way to the edges, because it can be trimmed about a half inch smaller than the piece, this helps prevent too much material. You can use the batting ironed under the main fabric, you can also double up and iron it under the lining fabric as well. #4: Sew zipper onto “Top Piece” one and two, top stitch. We reinforced the seams along the edges. #5: Put straps together folding them inside twice, when you are finished folding them, they should look more or less like bias tape. Iron them, and then sew them on each side. #6: Sew Side pieces to the top and bottom of Top Piece assembled. Sew the lining of these side pieces separately, right sides facing each other {of course, the top zippered piece would end up between them, once sewn, you will fold the lining piece down and you will end up with a finished look to the piece. This is where you would add the alternative D-Ring. Double up on the seams on this one. #7: Sew straps onto Lower Side Piece one and two. Double up on the seams. The pattern has the straps marked. #8: Sew Upper Side Pieces to Lower Side Pieces assembled. Make sure you cover the seams attaching the straps. #9: Cover inner seams of side pieces with bias tape. #10: Sew Top & Side Pieces to Side Pieces, sewing the bottom area last. To center, we folded the entire finished piece in half, marked that with a pin, folded the side parts in half, marked the center, then pinned both pieces together, right sides facing each other. For best results, we started the sewing along the center vs the edge, then went back and started from the center towards the other edge. This helps maintain the pieces centered. Repeat for opposite side. Then align the bottom area and sew completely. #11: cover inner seams with bias tape. Trim if you need to. Voila! Enjoy your bag!

natitys says: Tee hee thanks Tanya and Dianne! The green is growing on me, I'm just one of those "crazy for blue" people, but the green does look cute, I'm kinda "green blind" I can never get the right tone with the greens, something about it, lol.

natitys says: Thanks, ladies! I think it's important to see the results on the pattern, but even more when the pattern takes up almost every inch of the fabric and then there's no room for the picture of the real thing!! :)
