I'd just finished reading Isaac Asimov's I, Robot when this contest was posted and I've based my design on the first of the short stories in the book. Featured is loveable Robbie the nursemaid robot, Gloria and a friend! The book was published in 1950 so I've used some mid-century patterns on a soft and velvety background; the Peanuts comic strip was first published in the same year and I've based the kid's faces a bit on Charles M. Schultz's brilliant characters.
You can see the patterns I've used here:
Fifties Flowers (in the cloud)
Green Flowers on Corduroy (in the foliage) and
Strawberry Hearts (seen here on Robbie).

Thanks for your thoughtful, generous comment Rhonda; I love the play mat idea!

Thanks Isabella, I'm really glad you do :)
This is a charming design that radiates a light-hearted air of happy playfulness! It is a superb example of a faux applique quilt panel. As well as being suitable for use as a cot quilt or play mat, it also would make an excellent feature as the centre of a medallion quilt.
This is perfectly fabulous! I love this so much!!
