When I was a child there was a chain of stores called Woolworths which were sort of a cross between today's 99 Cent store and a Target or Walmart. They sold cheap stuff--never anything of heirloom quality--to the middle class masses of suburbia every day. And because they were a low class department store, rather than a high class one, their merchandise had lots of ornamentation derivative of more expensive styles. This scalloped abstract makes me think of the kind of little fabrics on their baggy house dresses and nightgowns, or their dishes made in Japan. So romantic and simple. A retro fifties Valentine with all the flowers and dots and curling tendrils, straight out of those fifties and sixties and into the second decade of the 21st century.
