The book has never been out of print. Austen sold the copyright for the novel to the publisher in exchange for £110 (remember Mr. Darcy was immensely wealthy with £10,000 per year -- roughly equivalent to making a salary of $6,000,000). It has calculated that the publisher subsequently made around £450 from just the first two editions of the book.
