What do bicycles, Robert Kennedy, and supposedly impossible to accidentally discharge handguns have linking them together? The answer is the Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works which sold their revolvers for the price of $5.50 (about $145 in 2016 money) at the turn of the 19th into 20th century. Though bicycles and firearms aren't natural partners, that is what the company made, starting during the bicycle craze year of 1891. (Later they made motorcycles). As for Kennedy, Sirhan Sirhan used a Johnson gun to assassinate him, which makes this vintage advertisement a semi infamous element out of American history. (file c 1900 iver gun bigger, #5686032)
