The “Calendar Tea Towel to Tote Bag” Collection are designs that originally are used as calendar tea towels (wall hangings), but once the calendars become outdated they can then be made into a tote bag that is approximately 13”x 12”. You can make the tote bag in 3 easy steps. (1) Sew one cotton twill strap to the top and then another cotton twill strap to the bottom of the tea towel to make loop handles. I used 1.5” wide straps and cut each one about 30” long. I made them that length so I could put the straps over my shoulder. You may wish, though, to cut shorter straps for handheld straps. (2) Fold the tea towel in half with right sides together. (3) Sew the two edges together leaving the top side open, and then turn it right side out. It’s as simple as that!
