Tablet-weaving (also called card-weaving) is ancient! I love it. This design is one of the 4 that are possible with no changes to the cards, 4-forward, 4-back, just by starting the repeat on a different line of the pattern! ___Tested a little larger, but put back closer to the original card-woven size. Colors of the original are close to what I see on my screen, but tested on the synthetic fleece for a scarf, were a little softer. ___ Card-weaving is done with cards with 4 holes in them (usually) instead of a loom. It is an ancient technique, usually used to make narrow bands, straps. belts, or trim or headbands. They can be very delicate silk or very sturdy cotton or linen or wool. ___I learned about it almost by accident, on the way to learning about an even more ancient type of weaving, (on a warp-weighted loom). And I fell in love with this technique, and its endless possibilities for designs. ___You can see the threads in the original view. It now is set at about the actual size. This version has the rows set next to each other, as textured fabric. Another one has plain plum between, making a more stripy fabric, or to use as seam allowances, if you want to cut it up for trim.
