Emerging from the maze of entries, the top choice in our puzzle-themed fabric design contest is first-time FOW winner Nancy Kers (Verycherry). Like perennial Spoonflower favorite Bora, another native of The Netherlands, Nancy turns out to be an illustrator for kids. No doubt we'll see more wins from her in the future! This was a hard theme from which to spin a fabric design, but there are still some lovely entries to admire. Read more about Our Puzzle Fabric Contest Winner.
Ring in the New Year wearing a festive party hat that you made yourself! In this Design Challenge we're asking you to create a cut & sew pattern for a party hat (for kids, adults, or pets!). This week, designers should use hand-lettering to write a New Year's resolution. Additional design elements are welcome, but the design must have text that has a hand-lettered appearance, and describes a resolution. Previews will be shown at the fat quarter fabric size (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is Tuesday, December 31st, 2013 (yes, that's New Year's Eve!).
It may be the middle of winter, but we're already quilting for spring! This week, we're asking contestants to create a cheater quilt block with a spring floral theme. Cheater quilt blocks feature fabric designed and printed to look like patchwork or applique so that you can skip the piecework and go straight for quilting. All designs submitted must use a restricted palette (visible here) and previews will be shown at (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is January 7th, 2014.
