Spoonflower Fabric of the Week Folk TalesContest

Folk tales Designs

Spoonflower Design Challenge: May 25, 2011

With her stark take on the story of Little Red Riding Hood, Nina Cuneo of Italy is the winner of our folk-tale-themed Fabric Of the Week contest. While the field was large, this one turned out to be a close race among the top group of (amazing) fabric designs. I believe this was Nina's first contest, which makes it an impressive debut. Let's hope we have a chance to see her work again! Congratulations, Nina. Be sure to check out the top ten designs, which are just beautiful. Earth day cut & sew bag

DId you know that the United States alone uses approximately 100 billion new plastic bags every single year? To honor Earth Day 2014, we're asking you to create a cut & sew pattern for a reusable shopping bag. The design should be set up to be centered. Preview will be sized at a single yard (42" x 36") of Kona Cotton, although your actual design may fill a yard of one of our wider fabrics. Deadline for entry is April 15th, 2014.

Floral coloring book wallpaper

At Spoonflower, we like to keep our childlike creativity and curiosity alive. That's why we're oh so excited about this week's contest: floral coloring book wallpaper. Create a black and white design that is ready for crayons, pencils, and markers to go wild. Designs are intended for wallpaper, but previews will be sized as a quarter yard of fabric (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is April 22nd, 2014.

Moms recipe tea towels

No matter where you live in the world, nothing spells comfort like a home cooked meal from your mom or grandmother. Celebrate the important culinary women in your life this Mother's Day by designing a lovely recipe just like mom used to make. Recipes should fit a fat quarter-yard of our Linen-Cotton Canvas fabric. Entries will be previewed at the scale of a fat quarter (27" x 18"). Deadline for entry is Tuesday, April 29th, 2014.

Terrariums

Terrariums are the perfect way to bring the outdoors in, and inject a little plant life into your home. No wonder people are crazy about them. This week, create a design that celebrates terrariums, previews will be sized as quarter yards (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is Tuesday, May 6th, 2014.

Crayon-drawn monsters

It's time to dust off the crayons, we're going 'old school' (kindergarten, that is!) for this week's contest. Create a monster design by hand, using only crayons (the kind you'd doodle with as a kid). Previews will be sized as quarter yards (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is Tuesday, May 13th, 2014.
