Spoonflower Fabric of the Week CatsContest

Cats Designs

Spoonflower Design Challenge: December 29, 2010

The winner of our cat fabric contest is Bora, otherwise known as Dutch artist Deborah van de Leijgraaf. This is Bora's fourth Fabric Of the Week win, which officially puts her in the company of a small handful of Spoonflower fabric design all-stars. Like her all-star predecessors, Cean Irminger and SammyK, Bora has requested that we donate $100 to a charity -- Heifer.org -- in lieu of awarding her the usual prize of free fabric. That's a lovely way to end a terrific 2010, no? There's still time to buy an end-of-year flock of geese for yourself! Fun trivia from Bora's blog: when not illustrating, Bora is a cat-loving, motorcycle-riding, accordian-playing new mom. But how many of those things can she do simultaneously? Thank you, Bora! We’re teaming up with Urban Threads to present our Steampunk Valentine Design Challenge! See full details on the blog and the Designing for Embroidery Style Guide for more details. Deadline for entry is Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Voting will open Thursday, February 5, 2015.

Ditsy sheep

To celebrate the Year of the Sheep and the Chinese New Year, this week's contest challenge is to design sheep fabrics using a ditsy style, or scattered, small-scale, non-directional repeat. Previews will be shown at the scale of a swatch (8" x 8"). Entries close on Tuesday, February 10th, 2015.

Mythical creature plushie pattern

Create a cut-&-sew pattern to make a plush mythical creature toy. The sewing pattern, with instructions, should fit on a fat quarter of linen-cotton canvas (27" x 18"). Contest will close for entries on February 17, 2015. Voting opens Thursday, February 19th.

Cubist cats

Celebrate our feline friends with cubist-style cat designs! Create a true work of modern art with your Cubist Cat-themed design. Entries will be previewed at the fat quarter size (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is Tuesday, February 24th. Voting will open on Thursday, February 26th.

Coral, mint, black and white

We just love coral, mint, black, and white all together in designs! This week's challenge calls for you to create a design using all four colors in this restricted palette, (visible on the blog here: http://blog.spoonflower.com/upcoming-spoonflower-contests.html), no less, no more. Previews will be shown at the fat quarter size (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is Tuesday, March 3rd, 2015. Voting opens Thursday, March 5th.

Instructions and rules for our weekly fabric design contests appear on our upcoming contests page .
