The North Carolina State Fair opens this week, and you can bet your bottom dollar we'll be there. Besides the deep fried candy bars and the donut sloppy joe burgers (yes, you read that right), we're looking forward to the annual pie contest. But can those real-life pies beat the delicious entries into our own Pies Design Challenge? The blue ribbon winner was Patty Rybolt of Florida with a pie menu that left our heads spinning. Congratulations to the rest of our finalists; we're sure these fabrics will make an appearance in kitchens worldwide, soon!
Take a trip down memory lane with our Retro Skiing Design Challenge! Create a pattern that uses skiing imagery with a retro or vintage flair. All designs submitted must use a restricted palette (visible here). Previews will be shown at the fat quarter fabric size (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is Tuesday, December 10th, 2013.
Ring in the New Year wearing a festive party hat that you made yourself! In this Design Challenge we're asking you to create a cut & sew pattern for a party hat (for kids, adults, or pets!). Previews will be shown at the fat quarter fabric size (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is Tuesday, December 17th, 2013.
This week, designers should use hand-lettering to write a New Year's resolution. Additional design elements are welcome, but the design must have text that has a hand-lettered appearance, and describes a resolution. Previews will be shown at the fat quarter fabric size (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is Tuesday, December 24th, 2013 (yes, that's Christmas Eve!).
Instructions and rules for our weekly fabric design contests appear on our upcoming contests page .
