Last week we challenged participants to create original family crests and to turn those into fabric designs. While you probably don't share a surname with any of the top ten designers, you still have a chance to buy their fabric, or at least to admire their creativity! This week's winner is "BZB Crest" by Bethany Berndt Shackelford, a terrific LA-based designer who grew up in Kansas. Read more about Who's Got the Best Family Crest.
This week, designers should use hand-lettering to write a New Year's resolution. Additional design elements are welcome, but the design must have text that has a hand-lettered appearance, and describes a resolution. Previews will be shown at the fat quarter fabric size (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is Tuesday, December 31st, 2013 (yes, that's New Year's Eve!).
It may be the middle of winter, but we're already quilting for spring! This week, we're asking contestants to create a cheater quilt block with a spring floral theme. Cheater quilt blocks feature fabric designed and printed to look like patchwork or applique so that you can skip the piecework and go straight for quilting. All designs submitted must use a restricted palette (visible here, and white) and previews will be shown at (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is January 7th, 2014.
Abracadabra! Is it an illusion, or is it magic? Designers should enter designs that depict scenes from a magic show. Previews will be shown at the fat quarter fabric size (21" x 18"). Deadline for entry is Tuesday, January 14th, 2014.
